Lavender Hill - Term 7, Week 10
Before I new it the term was over. This was my last Saturday morning class and I really enjoyed myself doing this portrait.

Yet again I was very challenged early on with the initial blocking in of this pose due to the diagonal. My teacher put me back on the right track. Quite pleased with how it was going although I do feel now that the head looks a little small.

I was pleased with how this was going. I started to use fusain charcoal to do the finer detail which really helped softly build up areas. I ran out of time before I could finish the head so I did just dash in some details.

I didn't really know where I was going with this one with the rendering. There were a lot of middle tone areas and I became easily confused and ended up being far to tentative. It was a great pose though and this model was straight of the cat walk.

This is another Saturday morning class drawing which really challenged me. I struggled with the diagonal angle of the pose and found it difficult to get the proportions right. Not a pretty drawing but I am always pleased to address my weak areas and this is one.

City of York
Back in June I was lucky enough to be taken on a family holiday to the city of York. It was a great opportunity to try some sketching of some amazing architecture and sights. I also had my first attempt at painting a little watercolour postcard which I am pleased to say made it intact to my Sister and Brother-in-law.
I was very grateful to my folks for this opportunity to have a relaxing break, a few cream teas and plenty to see and draw. Some of these were done very quickly as there was not always a comfortable spot for my folks to sit whilst they patiently waited for me while I sketched.

Life Drawing - Term 14, Week 7
For those of you who are really on the ball and following along closely we have skipped from week 5 to 7. I missed week 6 as I was on a lovely family holiday in York, where I got to practice some sketching skills and shall do a post on it later on sometime.

I remember I fell asleep after work and was late for this class. So I missed the first half of class as being so late I couldn't find any way to park. Note to self, do not sit down and close eyes after work on life drawing nights!
